Steel Pulse at Fremont

Steel Pulse LIVE at Fremont Theater! Bearing witness to the accelerating negativity of global affairs, British reggae powerhouse Steel Pulse exemplify musical vengeance to halt the disarray of humanity. The band's twelfth studio production, titled Mass Manipulation, reflects four decades committed to bettering mankind through music. Steel Pulse songs and lyrics continue to engage controversial topics of racial injustice and human rights on a global scale. Themes are as potent and relevant today as they were at the beginning of their career. Hailing from Birmingham, England, Steel Pulse emerged in 1975 with music that provokes thought toward global unification. Songs like "Chant a Psalm" have landed on Rolling Stone's Top 200 Best Songs list of the 1980s, and the six-time Grammy nominated group won the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album for Babylon the Bandit. Lead singer and guitarist, David Hinds' creativity, human persona, and visionary views are revealed through inspiring compositions that capture the effects of the African Diaspora. As reggae revolutionaries, Steel Pulse is revered by the younger generation of artists and remains a powerhouse on stages around the globe. Through the example of Mass Manipulation, Steel Pulse demonstrates the endless possibilities that come from breaking down the walls of systemic greed and nurturing the fellowship of mankind.

Rilo Kiley

Rilo Kiley at Fremont

After a long absence, Rilo Kiley—Jenny Lewis, Blake Sennett, Jason Boesel, and Pierre "Duke" de Reeder—are back, with arms outstretched. Over the years, a reunion "felt like a possibility, but it was never the right time," explains Boesel. Eventually, "the emotional component and the interpersonal communication component all arrived into this place where it had a straight shot at reality." "Planning this reunion over these past months has been like reconnecting with family. We haven't missed a beat," says De Reeder. "The stakes are only to have a good time, to revel in this nostalgia.  Getting to revisit and celebrate the music from that special time of our lives while experiencing it alongside a lot of people that lived it with us back when, and new folks alike." "It couldn't have happened any sooner," says Lewis. "It feels like now is the time to share that joy and love with each other and with everyone else." "For some people, Rilo Kiley evokes a formative, emotional time in life, when you were maybe grasping for your place in the universe. We were too," says Sennett. "Reconnecting with those people is paramount to anything else." "It's going to be wonderful for us, like going back to the purest version of yourself, that early '20s place where everything is possible," says Lewis. "You're in a van and Jason's got the map, Pierre is behind the wheel, and I'm on the shitty acoustic guitar in the bench seat working out a new song with Blake. I don't think it's ever been as good as that, when it was just us against the world." — Rilo Kiley was born from hunger, from the insatiable desire to write one's own story. The band's origins can be traced back to Los Angeles in the late 1990s, when Jenny Lewis and Blake Sennett discovered a shared songwriting obsession and began performing together. After some starts and stops, a band was formed with  Pierre "Duke" de Reeder playing bass. They called themselves Rilo Kiley, borrowing a name that came to Sennett in a dream. Following a promising EP, Rilo Kiley got to work on their debut, 2001's Take Offs and Landings. Self-recorded at home, the scrappy album offered a mix of Pacific Northwest-inspired indie rock and emo-adjacent angst, with a number of hushed and heartfelt tracks led by Sennett.Though their sound would evolve with time, Take Offs introducedmany of the qualities that would define Rilo Kiley: clever and raw observations about life and death; evocative melodies that infuse deeper shades of meaning; and seriously great storytelling. If Take Offswas a self-assured launchpad, 2002's The Execution of All Things was a triumphant arrival. For their second record, Rilo Kiley headed to Nebraska to record with Bright Eyes' Mike Mogis alongside new drummer Jason Boesel. Here, Lewis truly becomes a generational songwriter, spinning interior mysteries regarding romance, depression, trauma, hope, and isolation into cathartic revelations. The title of their third album, 2004's More Adventurous, aptly reflects the band's increasingly  ambitious compositions. It was also a poetic reference to perseverance in the face of heartbreak, a reminder that the things that make you weep don't have to make you weak. This sentiment guides Lewis as she addresses the failings of institutions large and small, from politics to marriage to religious morality. By that time, Rilo Kiley was a beloved presence in certain corners of pop culture. The bandmates' explored other musical outlets but reunited for 2007's Under the Blacklight, a groovy, '80s-tinged examination ofhumanity's seedy underbelly. In 2013, they shared Rkives, a compilation of leftover treasures pulled from old cassette tapes and hard drives. In 2020, Rilo Kiley reissued their 1999 The Initial Friend EP.

The Warren Haynes Band – Million Voices Whisper Tour

The Warren Haynes Band – Million Voices Whisper Tour at Fremont

Grammy Award winning artist Warren Haynes has been recognized as a cornerstone of the American music landscape and revered as one of the finest guitar players in the world. Throughout his prolific career as part of three of the greatest live groups in rock history – Allman Brothers Band, Gov't Mule and the Dead – his virtuosic artistry has led to thousands of unforgettable performances and millions of album and track sales. Despite all of the ground that Haynes has covered on his musical journey, the impressive thing is that he still has many miles to explore. On his newest solo album Ashes & Dust, he puts forth one of his most gorgeous, musically rich and personal albums to date. It is endlessly exciting to see one of the most brilliant minds in modern music shine an entirely new light on the depths of his creativity. Ashes & Dust, only the third studio album Haynes has ever released under his own name, is a masterful work of art and a particularly important statement for Haynes. The songs are immediately and clearly different from his usual style – encompassing beautiful acoustic arrangements, a rootsy/Americana soundscape and honeyed vocals that cut straight through to the soul. Although many of these songs are brand new, some of the tunes that make up this album have been dear to Warren for years. In some cases he has been carrying them around for 20 or 30 years, waiting for the right time to record them. "I've been writing songs all my life from a more folky, singer-songwriter, even Celtic direction," he says. "For a while, I've been compiling songs that didn't necessarily fit in with Gov't Mule or the Allman Brothers or even my last solo album. So this record was really a chance to bring a lot of that music to fruition. It's really given me the opportunity to take a lot of songs I love, that didn't have a home, and build a home for them." Given his life-long commitment to experimentation and eclecticism, though, it should come as no surprise that the album reveals yet another new side of his musical personality. Knowing that he wanted to pursue a more folk-based approach on this project, he brought in the New Jersey-based Americana band Railroad Earth as collaborators. "I have a cool chemistry with those guys—they add their own personality to the songs, but they're really great at interpreting, as well," says Haynes. "We've known each other casually for several years, and then at Del-Fest a few years ago, we winged a few songs together and it went really well. A little later, when I was opening the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY, they joined me for part of the set. We did that with a little more rehearsal, more preparation, and it was a great experience. At that point, I started thinking that maybe I should make my next record with these guys." Even with a clear sense of his goals for the album, Haynes and Railroad Earth still needed to explore various avenues and possibilities. They recorded more than 30 songs, often trying entirely different arrangements for each take or even recording late at night and not listening to playbacks until they reconvened the next day. Fans of jam-band powerhouse Gov't Mule or the most recent soul-charged incarnation of the Warren Haynes Band—or listeners who know Haynes through his 25-year affiliation with the Allman Brothers Band or his work with various extensions of the Grateful Dead family—may be surprised to hear him working in a more song-based context. Several of the tracks on Ashes & Dust, like "Company Man" and "Coal Tattoo," are links to the folk tradition of narrative writing. "I love story songs," Haynes says. "I was very influenced by the whole concept of writing songs that tell a story. When I first got bitten by the singer-songwriter bug, when I was 14, it was due to those people who transported you to another place and another time with their songs" Which is not to say that Ashes & Dust leaves his instrumental adventures behind; several songs such as "Blue Maiden's Tale" and "Stranded in Self-Pity" open out into more extended musical journeys. "In the studio, you're always looking for the balance between structure and focus and improvisation, opening up the music to chance" says Haynes. "But too much of either can keep the music from being as rewarding or as effective as it can be. Luckily my audience loves things to be stretched out. They love to hear the performance aspect. It was nice to take a few dirt roads, musically speaking, and go to some places none of us were expecting." Haynes shares that this album also brought out some new dimensions for him as a guitarist. "My playing here is quite different from what I've done in recent projects. It's showcasing a side of my musicality that's unlike, in some cases, anything I've ever done," he says, noting that he played a hollow-body D'Angelico instrument ("kind of a jazz guitar") for many of the sessions. "I like to adapt to my surroundings—to the music itself and to the musicians, trying to choose a musical voice that fits into the overall picture a certain way. I played a lot more slide guitar than I've played in a long time and a lot of acoustic guitar, things that were more directed to weaving themselves into the fabric of this music." One of the songs, "Spots of Time" (the lyrics of which include the phrase that gives the album its title), may be familiar to ardent Haynes-watchers. The song was written by Haynes and Phil Lesh from the Grateful Dead, and the Allman Brothers have been playing it on stage in recent years. He had hoped that the song would be included if the Allmans made another studio album, but after the legendary band retired in 2014, he decided to record it himself—but not before inviting Allman Brothers Band bassist Oteil Burbridge and percussionist Marc Quinones to join him in the studio. On "Gold Dust Woman," Grace Potter adds her unique vocal timbre. Sparking a fast friendship and instant chemistry several years ago, Haynes and Potter have performed this song together many times on stage and this endeavor seemed like the perfect opportunity to document it in the studio. That chemistry, along with Railroad Earth's unique instrumental interpretation, plays out here in fine form on the sole duet on the album. The presence of these world-class musicians and artists, along with that of Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Shawn Colvin and famed harmonica player Mickey Raphael (who each make an appearance here on "Wanderlust") is yet another reason why Ashes & Dust stands as such a personal, ambitious document of Warren Haynes' history. With songs that reach back to his initial fascination with music and others that go right up to the present day, it's a look behind his first-rate playing and into his enduring creative spirit. "These songs were each very important to me when they were written, especially since some of them go so far back," he says. "They're all visual memories and experiences of certain time periods that I tried to capture in song. They really represent a collection of memories in my life."

Depresión Sonora

Depresión Sonora at Fremont

Depresión Sonora is coming to Fremont Theater!

Thievery Corporation

Thievery Corporation at Fremont

Twenty-five years into their genre-defying electronic music career, Thievery Corporation's founding principles of D.I.Y. and inclusion have become key themes in mainstream social conversation. After a dozen highly acclaimed full-length albums, remix LPs, concert recordings, and over two decades of incendiary live performances that have thrilled audiences worldwide, Thievery Corporation's music and message is more relevant and important now than ever. That lack of filter enabled Garza and Hilton to mine their musical inspirations and create one of the most unique bodies of work in electronic music, respectfully incorporating tastes of international cultural styles, without ever falling into the trap of cultural appropriation. "We always wondered: with so much incredible music in the world, why would anyone limit themselves to one genre? Well, we found out – it's far easier to stay in one lane than to genre hop!" laughs Hilton. Garza elaborates: "When we started, we were influenced by music from all over the world, flipping through bins in second hand record stores for LP's from Brazil, India, Iran, Jamaica, jazz records…..we wanted to make music where you didn't know whether it was recorded today or a decade ago." Thievery Corporation's music has always looked toward the future while paying homage to the past, starting with their groundbreaking debut LP, 1996's "Sounds From The Thievery Hi-Fi," which both introduced the world to Garza and Hilton as producers and set their course as pioneers of song-based electronic music with wildly diverse vocalists. The band's legendary D.C. headquarters, the Eighteenth Street Lounge, became an epicenter for a diverse group of people and staff from all over the world, which in turn had a profound influence on their musical output. "D.C. was very cosmopolitan, lots of places to see international live music and jazz," says Garza. "We'd run into people from all over the world and invite them to play with us – so Thievery became an extension of that, both on our records and in our live performances." Indeed, Hilton and Garza's "Outernational" approach created a world reflected by the artist's ideals of diversity and acceptance. "25 years after we started, it seems like the world is catching up," Garza opines. "Social consciousness is more mainstream, awareness of the importance of inclusivity…it's so encouraging to see so many people working towards these goals in America." Hilton agrees. "Thievery is a reflection of who we are, it evolved from our musical tastes. Artists who were for the people, like The Clash, Fela Kuti, Manu Chao were so important to us, and engaging in social ideas has always been a part of what we've tried to do." People don't refer to Thievery Corporation as "World Music," but it's safe to say that their music and ethos is global in its scope and ahead of its time at every turn. In a live setting, Thievery Corporation avoids any electronic dance music tropes. Yes, you'll dance, sweat and put your hands in the air….but their concerts are true performances, with a killer band of players and an array of vocalists from diverse global cultures. No two shows feel the same. "Our shows are VERY live, lots of energy, the com-bination of multiple instruments and singers that take you on a musical journey," says Garza. "We have a sitar player, songs are in different languages – it's a multicultural experience, people connect to the band and to each other, it's beautiful." With a world cautiously beginning to emerge from isolation and towards communal events, Garza is eager to return Thievery Corporation to live performance. "I feel like people have been waiting to celebrate together after being forced apart for too long. We're all craving that." Eric Hilton's presence at Thievery gigs, however, has become an increasingly rare event. "I never really embraced touring; some of the world tours were interesting, seeing new places and cultures," he says. "For me, touring was tourism. The creative process of making music is more my thing." And Thievery Corporation have brought the sounds of the world to listeners throughout each of their albums. "There are so many highlights for me. 2014's Saudade is my favorite record that we've done, a real creative stretch for us. Quiet music is hard to make! Symphonik also. To hear our music done with an orchestra was incredible." Hilton concedes that over time live performance influenced the studio records. "After Cosmic Game (2011), we orchestrated jam sessions and built the records from those. For Temple of I and I (2014), we went to Jamaica to jam and record, which gave that record a different feel and authenticity." Looking back over their career, Rob Garza and Eric Hilton acknowledge that what drives each of them may be different, but the mashup of personalities, sounds, cultures and experiences birthed something wholly unique. "We love all kinds of music, which is why Thievery Corporation sounds the way it does," the founding partners agree. "We couldn't possibly incorporate all our tastes into the music, but we do it more than most." By not following trends or the whims of major labels, and embracing the cultural diversities that make the world such a wondrous place, Thievery Corporation has created a legacy that runs deep and continues to expand. "Over 25 years, we've left nothing undone. We far exceeded what we thought we would do," Hilton and Garza agree. And Thievery Corporation's music will continue on to reverberate and influence the next generation of listeners with an ear toward a global musical experience.

Walter Trout

Walter Trout at Fremont

All of us are broken. But no-one is beyond repair. It's a philosophy that WALTER TROUT has lived by during seven volatile decades at the heart of America's society and blues-rock scene. Even now, with the world more fractured than ever – by politics, economics, social media and culture wars – the fabled US bluesman's latest album, Broken, chronicles the bitter schisms of modern life but refuses to succumb to them. "I've always tried to write positive songs, and this album is not quite that," considers the 72-year-old of an all-original tracklisting that rages and soothes. "But I always hold on to hope. I think that's why I wrote this album." For the last half-century, however rocky his path, hope has always lit the way. The beats of Trout's unbelievable story are well-known: the traumatic childhood in Ocean City, New Jersey; the audacious move to the West Coast in '74; the auspicious but chaotic sideman shifts with John Lee Hooker and Big Mama Thornton; the raging addictions that somehow never stopped the boogie when he was with Canned Heat in the early-'80s. Even now, some will point to Trout's mid-'80s guitar pyrotechnics in the lineup of John Mayall's legendary Bluesbreakers as his career high point. But for a far greater majority of fans, the blood, heart and soul of his solo career since 1989 is the main event, the bluesman's songcraft always reaching for some greater truth, forever surging forward, never shrinking back. It's a peerless creative streak underlined by the guitarist's regular triumphs at ceremonies including the Blues Music Awards, SENA European Guitar Awards, British Blues Awards and Blues Blast Music Awards. The iconic British DJ 'Whispering' Bob Harris spoke for millions when he declared Trout "the world's greatest rock guitarist" in his 2001 autobiography, The Whispering Years.  If he were a less questing artist, Trout could mark time and dine out on those past glories, leaving the polemics and calls-to-arms to a younger generation. But that's not enough, considers the still-hungry veteran. "I have to grow. I want to be a vital contributing artist. I don't want to come out every night and play my first hit, Life In The Jungle. I feel young. I know I'm not. But in my head, I'm still 25, still wanting to get better and do something I haven't before. I have more to say." As the pandemic burnt out, Trout got back to business: the career-long cycle of writing, touring and resting still as natural to him as breathing. But scarcely had the world's turntable needles dropped on his latest album, 2022's Ride, when Trout felt the first tingles of incoming inspiration. Alternating between his homes in the remote Danish fishing village of Vorupør and Huntington Beach, California – or sometimes even in the back of the van, still slick with sweat after that night's gig – the twelve songs of Broken demanded to be born. "A lot of times I put on headphones, listen to music that gets me emotional, and then start just writing lyrics," explains Trout of a process that still fascinates him. "I think these songs are as honest as I can be. The band came down to my house for rehearsals so we could just go in the studio and blow through this stuff." Kingsize Soundlabs in LA was the scene of the crime – a familiar Trout Band haunt that also hosted 2019's Survivor Blues – and producer Eric Corne once again the man behind the glass. "This is our 15th album together," calculates the bluesman. "Eric and I just have a way of working, man. A friend who came into the studio and watched us and said, 'Man, you guys are like a machine'. It's unspoken." A few collaborators joined Trout for the first time. "I thought my friend Beth Hart could relate to the title track, Broken," he says of the warrior princess whose fiery vocals coil with his own. "With that song, I was looking at the world – especially what's going on in the United States – but also thinking about my recovery from the things that happened to me. I had the first verse – 'Pieces of me seem to break away/I lose a little more every day'. But it was almost too much for me to go back into that shit. So my wife, Marie, was able to help me with the lyrics – and she nailed it. The guitar solo, that's maybe my favourite on the record. I tracked it with the band, one take. I wanted to see if I could beat it – but they wouldn't let me!" Another set of star guests supply the rocket fuel on two of the album's most rocking cuts, I've Had Enough and Bleed. "Dee Snider from Twisted Sister put up a live cut of me on his Twitter and said: 'Listen to this fucking guitar hero'. We started talking, became friends, he came into the studio and I knew I had to write him a song. So I'm thinking, 'Well, he did We're Not Gonna Take It'. So I wrote I've Had Enough. And it's rockin', big time. Bleed came about when we were pretty much done. My drummer Michael Leasure said to me, 'Hey, Walter, you played with John Lee Hooker and Canned Heat, this is your 31st album and you've never played a boogie. What's the deal?' So I said, 'OK, fuck it, let's do a boogie'. I can kinda play harmonica, but I thought, 'Let's elevate this thing'. There's a young harmonica player in England who's the best I've ever heard, Will Wilde. He has the soul and the power of Paul Butterfield, but couples that with blinding virtuoso technique."  Elsewhere, in a flash of telepathy, Trout discovered the line he was singing as a placeholder lyric for the cowboy blues of Turn And Walk Away had already been written by Marie ("I have a box of lyrics, and I find this piece of paper, in my wife's handwriting, from twenty years ago and the first line says: 'It never occurred to me that you would ever set me free'. It fit the song perfectly"). As for the blues tune, Courage In The Dark, Trout believes it took no more than ten minutes. "I was actually reading a book of poetry in the van, and the line was something like, 'In a world of darkness, it's a necessity that you hold on to your courage'." For the wistful Talkin' To Myself, Trout took inspiration from the hits that crackled from AM radio in his youth, paired with a lyric about his habit of yelling at the hotel TV on the road, and a highly successful first attempt to play a vintage electric sitar ("Y'know, it's '66, you're riding in your car, and Paul Revere and The Raiders comes on – I wanted this song to sound like that"). But on No Magic (in the street), he acknowledges the march of time. "I've been living here in Huntington Beach for 50 years. For decades, I knew everybody on Main Street: 'Hey Walter, what's goin' on?' But I took a walk down there recently and realised there's a new generation, with their own Steinbeckian society, and I felt like an anachronism. So when I say there's no more magic out on the streets now, that's just for me." No words were required for the tender instrumental Love Of My Life ("Of course, it's about Marie"), while the bluesman's muse of three decades also inspired the gossamer balladry of I Wanna Stay ("I'm whispering that song – it's meant to be as quiet and gentle and possible. That's about the first time I made love to my wife"). The bright-eyed soul of Breathe was written by keyboardist, Richard T Bear and reimagined by Trout with a nod to the Faces' heart-wrenching Debris. "I told the bass player Jamie Hunting, 'I want you to play like Ronnie Lane here'. And I told Skip Edwards, the piano player: 'I want Ian McLagan'. And they nailed it."  Then comes a wildcard, in the form of the scalded, spacey, spoken-word punk-blues Heaven Or Hell. "I met an old blind man on the street," explains Trout. "I gave him a little money to eat, he started preaching, and I went back to my room and wrote a poem about what he said. I couldn't sing it, I couldn't fit it into music, so I told Eric, 'I'm just gonna speak it'." For most of the new record, Trout reached for his battle-scarred Fender Stratocaster or Delaney signature model, plugging into his trusty Mesa/Boogie MkIV stage amp (no pedals required). But for the closing Falls Apart, he pushed the sonic envelope. "Anyone who thinks I'm just a blues guy, I'm gonna hit them with my version of Pink Floyd," he laughs. "That outro has three different electric guitar rhythms, and two acoustic guitar rhythms in different inversions. Then there's a Nashville-tuned guitar. Our middle child Biscuit, AKA Captain Buzzface, wrote the song and arranged and sang all the background vocals. I think that the kid wrote an epic song that is very fitting for the state of the world today. I have a hard time getting through that one without breaking down." With gallows humour, Trout notes that his new album opens with a track called Broken and ends with one called Falls Apart. He can't deny the socio-political mood in the air, and as such, between those two bookends lie some of the most personal, bruised songs of his career (albeit twinned to some of his most rocking and defiant guitar work). Yet as the man says, as long as there's love and music, there is always a light to guide us. "That Sixties idealism still burns in me and I want to make music that means something or helps somebody. I may be naïve but I'm ok with that. In the face of what's happening in the world, I will stubbornly hold on to my idealism   and hope. I want to make music that matters…"

Social Distortion

Social Distortion at Vina Robles

PASO ROBLES, Calif. – April 14, 2025 – Long-running and unapologetically punk rock, Social Distortion is set to perform at Vina Robles Amphitheatre, Friday, June 13. Now in its fifth decade, the band, with frontman Mike Ness, has officially achieved one of the most non-punk things possible: They've failed to burn out. Tickets are available via Ticketmaster, Friday, April 18, at 10AM. Here's how you know you've made it in the music business: You've stayed strong for decades on your own terms, on your own time, by your own rules, and over that time your influence has only grown. Each of your albums has been stronger than your last. You've been brought on stage by Bruce Springsteen, because he wanted to play one of your songs. You've seen high times and low ones, good days and tragic days, but every night you give 100%, and every morning you wake up still swinging. This is the short version of the Social Distortion bio — the long version could be a 10-part mini- series. But over the past few decades, the punk godfathers in the band have all but trademarked their sound, a brand of hard rockabilly/punk that's cut with the melodic, road-tested lyrics of Ness. Their searing guitars and a locomotive rhythm section sound as alive today as they did in '82, as do Ness' hard-luck tales of love, loss and lessons learned. "The most common thing I hear is, 'Man, your music got me through some hard times,'" Ness says. "And I just say, 'Me too.'" Hard Times And Nursery Rhymes (produced, for the first time, by Ness himself) is the band's most recent release. For a band with a career spanning over 40 years, Social Distortion experienced a significant amount of firsts in 2011. For starters, Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard Top 200 and was the highest debut that the band has yet seen. Hard Times was also the No. 1 Independent Album and the No. 2 Modern Rock/Alternative Album week of release. The band also made their late-night television debut when they performed "Machine Gun Blues" on Jimmy Kimmel Live and later played for Conan on Hard Times’ release date. Taking their successes to the road, Social Distortion played European festivals including Reading and Leeds for the first time. They also booked their first tours of Australia and South America. And finally, Social Distortion played Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits Festival, and Coachella – all of these for the first time. Social Distortion’s patented mix of punk, bluesy rock n’ roll and outlaw country — while also stretching the boundaries of their signature sound is a blend of potent power that appeals to all ages. They are honored to have been able to reach as many people as they have so far. "I write songs for myself, and I hope that other people will like them too," Ness says. "I think every record you make is showing people what you've learned over the past few years. It's showing people, 'This is what I know.' " A release of new music is forthcoming in 2025.

Foreigner

Foreigner at Vina Robles

PASO ROBLES, Calif. – March 3, 2025 – Legendary rock band Foreigner brings their electrifying mix of blustery blues and impeccably crafted pop back to Vina Robles Amphitheatre, Wednesday, June 18. Tickets are available via Ticketmaster, Friday, March 7, at 10AM. Foreigner, who last appeared at Vina Robles Amphitheatre in 2019, continue to captivate generation after generation of music fans. Founded in 1976, Foreigner has produced 10 multi-platinum albums, 16 Top 30 hits and is universally hailed as one of the most popular rock acts in the world. The band has a formidable musical arsenal, selling more than 80 million albums, and has continued to propel sold-out tours and album sales now nearly 50 years into the game with massive airplay and continued Billboard album chart success. Audio and video streams of Foreigner’s hits exceed 15 million per week. Foreigner‘s founder is Songwriters Hall of Fame member Mick Jones, a visionary maestro whose stylistic songwriting, indelible guitar hooks and multi-layered talents continue to escalate Foreigner‘s influence and guide the band to new horizons. Jones re-formed the band after a 2002 hiatus and selected lead singer Kelly Hansen to help write an inspired new chapter in the history of Foreigner. One of rock’s greatest showmen, Hansen is among the most respected, consummate professionals in rock and roll. With a 40-year career that spans almost every area of music, from the role of lead vocalist to producing and engineering, Hansen has led Foreigner into the digital age while inspiring a whole new generation of fans. Foreigner’s lineup also includes noted Dokken bassist Jeff Pilson, Michael Bluestein on keyboards, guitarist Bruce Watson, Chris Frazier on drums and guitarist Luis Carlos Maldonado. Hansen has been quoted as saying, “The best part about being in this band is getting the chance to do something I feel I was meant to do…what happens on stage with this group of guys is something that is rare and palpable. It’s like the old saying, ‘if I have to describe it, you wouldn’t understand.” Foreigner is responsible for some of rock and roll’s most enduring anthems including “Juke Box Hero,” “Cold As Ice,” “Hot Blooded,” “Waiting For A Girl Like You,” “Feels Like The First Time,” “Urgent,” “Head Games,” “Say You Will,” “Dirty White Boy,” “Long, Long Way From Home” and the worldwide No. 1 hit, and “I Want To Know What Love Is” (which has become one of a handful of Classic Rock artists’ songs to achieve 1 billion streams on Spotify). Their catalog sales were recently celebrated in Business Insider as hitting the Top 40 among the Best-Selling Music Artists of All Time. The band also features strongly in everyone category in Billboard’s “Greatest of All Time” listing. Foreigner’s music experienced another surge in popularity in recent years thanks to usage in primetime television, major motion pictures, video games, advertising, and digital content. Films such as Rock of Ages, Bad Moms, Angry Birds, Magic Mike, Pitch Perfect, Good Boys and The Eternals, and television shows Orange Is The New Black, Stranger Things, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Tacoma FD have all strongly featured Foreigner’s songs. Advertisers including Toyota, Google, Molson, and Ford have turned to Foreigner’s music to engage their fans. In the spring of 2024, Foreigner executed a sold-out tour of Canada and a headline tour of amphitheaters with STYX and attendances of 14,000 to 15,000 in some markets, together with two headline residencies at the Las Vegas Venetian in the spring and fall. The biggest news of the year was Foreigner’s nomination to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame followed by an appearance at the induction ceremony in Cleveland featured in a national TV debut last fall. The band also announced a Hall of Fame celebration tour which began with the fall Las Vegas residency, and which will feature original band members in select markets. That tour continues through 2025. The band released TURNING BACK THE TIME in the fall of 2024. This is part of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame celebration and features Foreigner’s hits through the years with a newly released song written by Mick Jones and Lou Gramm originally recorded in 1996. The single, “Turning Back The Time,” has already had great critical acclaim and significant airplay. Foreigner has partnered with the Recording Academy and The Shriners Hospitals for Children in an initiative that includes MusiCares and GRAMMY In The Schools efforts to raise money for much needed high school music programs nationwide. This is a win for everybody as it supports a vital program and creates a massive PR focus that helps sell tickets. At every stop along the way, Foreigner works with local radio and other media to initiate a contest to find a high school choir to sing ‘I Want To Know What Love Is’ live on stage with Foreigner. Each winning school receives a grant of $500 for their school music program and additional funds are donated to the Recording Academy’s other charitable initiatives. Foreigner funds the grants out of the proceeds from sales of the band’s CD at venues.

Primus

Primus at Vina Robles

PASO ROBLES, Calif. – March 25, 2025 – Following their electrifying run on the Sessanta tour alongside A Perfect Circle and Puscifer, Primus will return this summer with the Onward & Upward Tour—an expansive, coast-to-coast trek that marks an exciting new chapter for the band. The tour not only brings the trio’s signature blend of musical innovation back to stages nationwide, but also introduces fans to drummer John Hoffman, whose recent addition to the lineup brings a renewed sense of energy, experimentation, and groove to the legendary outfit. Kicking off July 5th at Vina Robles Amphitheatre in Paso Robles, CA, the Onward & Upward Tour will hit 24 cities across the U.S., making stops at iconic venues like Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado, The Salt Shed in Chicago, The Rooftop at Pier 17 in New York, and The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, before culminating in a celebratory two-night stand at Channel 24 in Sacramento on August 7th and 8th. Along the way, Primus will be joined by a pair of equally bold and idiosyncratic artists—Ty Segall and MonoNeon—who will appear on select dates throughout the tour. A special VIP & Artist Presale launches Wednesday, March 26th at 10am local time. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, March 28th at 10am local time. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit:https://primusville.com The Onward & Upward tour borrows its name from the ever-mutating DNA of Primus itself—a band that’s never been content to sit still or play it straight. That spirit of constant evolution is now hurtling forward with the addition of drummer John Hoffman, whose arrival marks a bold new chapter for the trio. Selected from more than 6,200 global applicants during the band’s wide-open audition process, Hoffman’s deep pocket, wild musical mind, and immediate chemistry with Les Claypool and Larry LaLonde made him the clear choice. Les Claypool shared the following statement about the tour and the band’s newest member: “Hitting the road this summer with Hoffer at the helm! This fiery, cheerful, octopus-like drummer from Shreveport, Louisiana has breathed a very potent breath of freshness into this band we all call PRIMUS. While splitting the drum duties of his first gig with the mighty Danny Carey down in the Dominican Republic, John "Hoffer" Hoffman has launched himself into the PRIMUS world with all guns-a-blazin'. Fresh from their next jaunt around the states with Sessanta Part 2 this Spring, Hoffer, Ler, and The Ol' Colonel will be playing some full length PRIMUS sets at choice venues across the US, dipping into material (mainly at the request of Hoffer) that have not been performed in a many years. Come see why this amazing fellow was able to rise above over 6100 applicants to win the Interstellar Drum Derby and become the latest, and possibly the greatest, drummer to sit on the PRIMUS drum throne. ONWARD AND UPWARD!!” The search for a new drummer was recently chronicled in the band’s newly launched YouTube series, Interstellar Drum Derby, which gives fans an inside look at the journey that led to Hoffman’s selection. With his first full tour on the horizon, Onward & Upward promises to deliver the next wave of Primus’ creative vision. Anjelah Johnson-Reyes

Anjelah Johnson-Reyes at Vina Robles

PASO ROBLES, Calif. – February 18, 2025 – It’s been a transformational few years for stand-up comedian, actress, author, and podcaster, Anjelah Johnson-Reyes, whose comedy career was ignited after her ‘Nail Salon’ stand-up bit went viral on YouTube over a decade ago. She wrapped up a sold-out 100+ show stand-up comedy theater tour across the United States, self-produced and financed her 6th comedy special – Say I Won’t – at the historic Ryman Auditorium which racked up over 5.9M views on YouTube and counting, and most importantly, she became a mother for the first time. With all this momentum at her wings, she’s embarking on her “The Family Reunion” global stand-up comedy tour, which spans 150+ shows in major theaters across the world in 2025-2026. The show, which will play at Vina Robles Amphitheatre, Saturday, August 2, offers a brand-new family-friendly hour of stand-up comedy, in which Anjelah finds herself at an exciting crossroads – moving towards a new season in her life as a mother and family matriarch. She joyfully frames her relatable new hour of comedy around diving headfirst into motherhood in her forties, while interweaving stories about the most important people in her life — her husband, daughter, family and friends. “Family reunions are all about coming together - laughing, eating, drinking, catching up, and remarking on how everyone has changed – and that’s exactly how my shows feel,’” says Anjelah. “You all truly feel like family to me – you’ve been with me since the start 17 years ago when that one video blew up. In many ways, we’ve all grown up together, and now we’re officially the adults – the tias and tios! Couldn't think of a better way to celebrate this next hour of comedy and tour, than to host a family reunion in each city and celebrate with you all! So, bring your entire family, and let’s have some fun and laugh together!” In April 2023, Anjelah wrapped up her most successful comedy tour so far in major theatres across North America. In Los Angeles, she sold out The Wiltern four times with over 8,000 tickets sold. In Texas she sold over 25,000 tickets across Houston, Austin, Dallas, Lubbock, San Antonio, and El Paso. As part of her special tapings, she sold out the historic Ryman Auditorium twice with over 4,000 tickets sold. Anjelah recently launched her comedy and wellness podcast – “Funjelah with Anjelah Johnson-Reyes” on YouTube and all major audio platforms – where she and a guest recount the things that they are grateful for and dive deep into how those gratitudes affect their lives. She recently appeared opposite Eddie Murphy in the Amazon Prime holiday film, Candy Cane Lane, and in season two of Amy Schumer’s, Life & Beth, on Hulu. Earlier this year, she hosted the 8-episode Tubi original series, My Crazy Quince, which premiered in May 2024. Her book, Who Do I Think I Am: Stories of Chola Wishes & Caviar Dreams, recently came out in paperback and contains stories of her growing up caught between her Mexican and American heritage, her rise to success in Hollywood, and so much more. Those same relatable stories connect her in a meaningful way to her fans and have driven her social media engagement through the roof (she has over 1.3M followers on Instagram, over 1.5M followers on Facebook, over 680K on YouTube, and over 3.2M on TikTok). Tickets for the Vina Robles Amphitheatre show are available via Ticketmaster, Friday, February 21, at 10AM. For more information, please visit www.Anjelah.com. ABOUT INDIGO GIRLS: Across four decades, 16 studio albums, and over 15 million records sold, Indigo Girls continue to blaze the trail for generations of Queer artists in the mainstream. The Grammy-winning duo of Emily Saliers and Amy Ray began their career in clubs and bars around their native Atlanta, GA amidst a blossoming alternative music scene before signing to Epic Records in 1988. Indigo Girls’ eponymous major label debut sold over two million copies under the power of singles “Closer to Fine” and “Kid Fears” and introduced the duo’s signature harmonies and stirring, sophisticated songs to a dedicated, enduring global audience. Indigo Girls was the first of six consecutive Gold and/or Platinum-certified albums. Their latest record, Look Long, is a heartfelt and eclectic collection of songs that finds the duo reunited in the studio with their strongest backing band to date. “We joke about being old, but what is old when it comes to music? We’re still a bar band at heart,” says Saliers. “While our lyrics and writing approach may change, our passion for music feels the same as it did when we were 25 years old.” Committed and uncompromising activists, Saliers and Ray work on issues like racial justice and reproductive rights (Project Say Something), immigration reform (El Refugio), LGBTQ advocacy, education (Imagination Library), death penalty reform, and Native American rights (First Peoples Fund). “As time has gone on, our audience has become more expansive and diverse, giving me a sense of joy,” says Saliers. Recently, “Closer to Fine” featured prominently in Greta Gerwig’s blockbuster film Barbie and introduced Indigo Girls’ music to a new generation of listeners. Released in 2024, their critically-acclaimed documentary Indigo Girls: It’s Only Life After All (directed by Alexandria Bombach) blends 40 years of home movies, raw film archive, and intimate present-day verité into a soulful career retrospective. A New York Times Critic’s Pick, the documentary premiered opening night at the Sundance Film Festival in 2023 and went on to screen at SXSW, Tribeca Film Festival, and Hot Docs before releasing to Netflix. A third film, director Tom Gustafson’s 2023 jukebox musical Glitter & Doom tells the tale of a whirlwind summer romance through inventive reimaginations of classic Indigo Girls songs. Glitter & Doom boasts a star-studded queer supporting cast featuring Lea DeLaria, Tig Notaro, Kate Pierson (The B-52s), RuPaul's Drag Race alum Peppermint, and even a cameo from Amy and Emily themselves. While Rolling Stone describes them as “ideal duet partners,” Indigo Girls’ live performances aren’t so much duets as they are community experiences—massive group singalongs together with their audience. To hear those collective voices raise into one, overpowering the band itself, one realizes the importance Indigo Girls’ music has in this moment. In our often-terrifying present, we are all in search of a daily refuge, a stolen hour or two, to engage with something that brings us joy, perspective, or maybe just calm. As one bar band once put it, “We go to the doctor, we go to the mountains…we go to the Bible, we go through the work out.” For millions, they go to the Indigo Girls: a creative partnership certain of its bearings, forging a way forward. For several years, her popularity grew around such memorable originals as "Bring Me Some Water," "No Souvenirs" and "Ain't It Heavy," for which she won a Grammy® in 1992. Etheridge hit her commercial and artistic stride with her fourth album, Yes I Am (1993). The collection featured the massive hits, "I'm the Only One" and "Come to My Window," a searing song of longing that brought Etheridge her second Grammy® Award for Best Female Rock Performance. In 1995, Etheridge issued her highest charting album, Your Little Secret, which was distinguished by the hit single, "I Want to Come Over." Her astounding success that year led to Etheridge receiving the Songwriter of the Year honor at the ASCAP Pop Awards in 1996. Known for her confessional lyrics and raspy, smoky vocals, Etheridge has remained one of America’s favorite female singers for more than two decades. In February 2007, Melissa Etheridge celebrated a career milestone with a victory in the “Best Song” category at the Academy® Awards for “I Need to Wake Up,” written for the Al Gore documentary on global warming, An Inconvenient Truth. As a performer and songwriter, Etheridge has shown herself to be an artist who has never allowed “inconvenient truths” to keep her down. Earlier in her recording career, Etheridge acknowledged her sexual orientation when it was considered less than prudent to do so. In October 2004, Etheridge was diagnosed with breast cancer, a health battle that, with her typical tenacity, she won. Despite losing her hair from chemotherapy, Etheridge appeared on the 2005 Grammy® telecast to sing “Piece of My Heart” in tribute to Janis Joplin. By doing so she gave hope to many women afflicted with the disease. On October 7, 2016 Melissa Etheridge released Memphis Rock & Soul, her first album since 2014’s critically lauded This Is M.E. Recorded at Royal Studios in Memphis, the album received stellar reviews from the likes of Entertainment Weekly, Parade, Rolling Stone, American Songwriter and more. She followed that up with the release of The Medicine Show in April, 2019. For The Medicine Show, Melissa reunited with celebrated producer John Shanks and sounds as rousing as ever, bringing a new level of artistry to her 15th studio recording. In June of 2020, Etheridge launched The Etheridge Foundation to support groundbreaking scientific research into effective new treatments for opioid use disorder. The Foundation works towards advancing treatment approaches that address the root causes of opioid abuse and make available better, more effective solutions for people to truly heal their opioid use disorder. In 2021, Melissa returned with then album One Way Out. The 9-track album is a collection of songs Etheridge wrote in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s that never made the cut....until now! The time was finally right, and fans finally got a deeper glimpse to who Melissa was then. October 2022 saw Melissa’s return to the theatre with her one woman show, My Window – A Journey Through Life. The critically acclaimed, sold-out run premiered at New World Stages on October 13 and opened at Circle In the Square Theatre on Broadway in September 2023. 2024 saw Melissa release Melissa Etheridge: I’m Not Broken, a two-part docuseries (Paramount+) and accompanying live album. Recorded live within the grounds of the Topeka Correctional facility the album and two-part docuseries follows her journey both penning and performing an original song inspired by her correspondence with residents of the TCF and features raw and rousing versions of specially curated fan favorites and original songs. KING LIL G & YOUNG DRUMMER BOY: BLUE HUNDREDS TOUR 2025

KING LIL G & YOUNG DRUMMER BOY: BLUE HUNDREDS TOUR 2025 at Fremont

Hip-hop history comprises countless underdog stories. However, nothing quite compares to the come-up of King Lil G. Tracing the kind of rags-to-riches trajectory that's typically reserved for the big screen, the Mexican rapper, entrepreneur, and proud father has gone from humble beginnings as an immigrant to international renown for both his music and business acumen. Emerging as a preeminent Mexican spitter, he reps a culture certainly known for consuming dyed-in-the-wool American hip-hop, yet rarely associated with creating it on a global scale. At the same time, he embodies a universal experience amplified by his tireless grind, inventive approach, and undeniable talent. It's why he's piled up nearly 1 billion total streams and views under-the-radar, sold out numerous shows, and earned acclaim from HYPEBEAST, Vibe, and XXL in addition to a co-sign from none other than Kendrick Lamar. Now, King Lil G tells his story like never before on his 2024 album 18 Days and I'm Gone [Empire 47 Records/808 Kartel/Compound Interest]. "On this record, I wanted to focus on spitting over boom-bap beats and coming with stories like how I did in the past," he explains. "I'm talking about relatable subjects like what I've been through and how I've been able to overcome a lot. I'm genuinely more motivated than ever to tell my story." Music immediately called to King Lil G during his youth in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Inglewood. Inspired by West Coast classics, he constantly spun the likes of Snoop Dogg's Doggystyle on repeat. At 12-years-old, he started to write songs of his own. He locked into a prolific groove, dropping eleven full-length projects since 2012.Among many highlights, he generated over 100 million Spotify streams across "Grow Up," "No Face No Ca$e," "Ignorance," "L.A. Vibe," and more. Simultaneously, he launched multiple businesses and built an impressive portfolio, including popular cannabis brand KING WOODZ, clothing line AK47, and his own record label AK47 Boys. Moreover, he attracted a staggering audience, encompassing 3 million followers across social media and north of 1 million YouTube subscribers. After nearly 15 years in the game, he considered putting down the mic once and for all to focus on his family. His youngest daughter had other plans, though… "She said to me, 'No daddy, you've got to make more music, because people love your songs and concerts. You're King Lil G, and they love you'," he recalls. "When she said that, it stuck with me. The motivation came back. I couldn't simply rap about partying though; I needed to get serious again. The storytelling is what made me popular in the first place, so I went back to it." One session with DJ Flippp kickstarted the process for the album. Living up to the title 18 Days and I'm Gone, he finished recording in 18 days. "It was almost like the ideas were spilling out of my mind," he states. "My spirit felt like it needed to record." This hunger drives the first single "Loyalty." Horns boom atop the head-nodding beat as he assesses a series of trials and tribulations with intensity and empathy all at once. "'Loyalty' tells the story of a youngster getting in trouble a lot and spending time in jail," he notes. "I'm talking about how certain groups of people can take you down an ugly path. The second verse is similar to the light, showing the good life. A lot of times, you can't tell kids to not get in trouble. Instead, you have to show them the path to success." Spanish guitar wraps around slick finger-snaps on "City Lights." Once again, his confessions cut deep as he admits, "I learned a lot of shit from this pain that I endured." "It reminisces about sleeping on the couch, living off EBT, and not having any money to eat," he says. "I was running around in the streets with my friends. I reflect on that life and share how depressing it can be when you make bad decisions."  "Palms Casino" revolves around an airy loop as his crystal clear delivery echoes over a thumping groove. Dropping cash on the table, he boasts, "You talking to the president, baby, I'm writing all the checks." "That one is about having fun," he grins. "It tells a story about me and my boys having a good old time at the Palms Casino." Then, there's "Tell Me No Lies." He paints a vivid picture of the streets without filter, "I got in the whip started driving at 11:30, gotta go deliver all this product." He sighs, "I try to walk away but all the demons follow me." "That song talks about the days I was hustling in the streets," he explains. "I'm more or less giving a view of what my life was like back then. I'm fortunate to live a nice and luxurious life now, but I don't want people to forget where I came from." Meanwhile, he goes bar-for-bar with fellow L.A. phenomenon Fenix Flexin of Shoreline Mafia on "TITLE." "Fenix has been the homie for a long time," he says. "We talked about getting on a song together for a minute. We linked up through Flippp and knocked out the song real quick. It has a good energy to it." Speaking of energy, "52nd Floor" filters his rhymes through a haze of smoke as confidence belies pensiveness. "I talk about what I want to do," he notes. "It doesn't really have a story attached to it, but it has a bunch of rhymes you can enjoy while smoking or relaxing with friends or your girl." Ultimately, King Lil G's story might just inspire you. "I'd love to hopefully influence other Mexican artists," he leaves off. "When I was putting in the work and hoping I could become something, there were no Mexican artists to look up to. From my journey, I can leave a legacy of being a hard worker dedicated to his community and family. I hustle so hard to take care of my family. My biggest priority is to give my children the life I didn't have. They're making me be the best I can be, and I'm giving my best to the music because of them."

The Head And The Heart

The Head And The Heart at Vina Robles

PASO ROBLES, Calif. – February 27, 2025 – The Head and the Heart have confirmed a May 9 release date for their sixth studio album, Aperture, which also marks their debut for Verve Forecast. New single “After the Setting Sun” is out today and can be streamed here. The new track follows the release of their own record setting #1 AAA single “Arrow” and a new, separate version of the track featuring Mt. Joy that supports victims of the recent LA fires. Aperture brings the band back to a DIY approach as it’s the first record self-produced by the band since their self-titled debut album in 2011. The band has also announced the “Aperture” tour kicking off on May 31 in Detroit. The tour includes stops at Central Park Summerstage in New York City, the Greek Theater in Los Angeles, Vina Robles Amphitheatre in Paso Robles, CA, and more. The tour will include stops at Summerfest and Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival this summer. See below for a full rundown of dates. Every ticket sold will add +$1 to donate to the band’s Rivers and Roads Foundation. The foundation, started by The Head and The Heart, raises money for local Seattle-based music programs and initiatives with an emphasis on equitable access to music education, and mental health resources and support for musicians. Tickets for the Vina Robles Amphitheatre show are available via Ticketmaster, Friday March 7, at 10AM. During more than 15 years together, The Head and The Heart have journeyed their way through a lot of different terrain – a critically and commercially revered debut album and follow up on stalwart indie Sub Pop, followed by three albums with big hits on major label Warner Records. But after touring in support of 2022’s Every Shade of Blue tour, they started asking questions. Where have we been and what’s next? Taking their future into their own hands, the band decamped to Richmond, Va., and hit the reset button with a grip of ideas in tow. As they did in their early years, band members handled production duties themselves. Staying true to their own creative vision was paramount, and through a year of sessions in their twin home bases of Seattle and Richmond, The Head and The Heart found their way forward by believing in their power as one. “I believe we’ve made a very great record together and obviously the title is an important aspect of the final product,” says group member Matty Gervais. “For me, Aperture represents the choice we all must make between resigning ourselves to darkness, or letting the light in and recognizing our own agency to do so. It feels relevant to the times, in that we’re literally choosing between authoritarianism vs. democracy. Ignorance vs. enlightenment on a macro scale, and complacency/cynicism vs. hope, empathy and perseverance on the micro scale. To me, it sums up a lot of what each of these songs is grappling with in some form and what we’ve collectively gone through as a band. It’s about choosing hope again and again, no matter how many times it may feel that you have lost it.” As for the title song, Gervais says it is “an invitation to wake up in the present moment recognizing that it is all we have, in all its contradictions of beauty and pain, joy and despair, unfathomable vastness and impermanence.” At early sessions for Aperture, the group instantly tapped into a renewed enthusiasm, with a tide of ideas rippling out in a matter of days. There was a rawness and unfettered energy to these songs. A band that had built a massive audience with meticulous arrangements and studio perfection suddenly found a vim that bordered on punk. Pianist Kenny Hensley sang and contributed lyrics for the first time, and drummer Tyler Williams even sang lead for the first time, boosting an explosive tune from vocalist/guitarist Jonathan Russell called “Cop Car.” Russell previously said the decision for the band to return to self-producing was “a 180 in terms of where we were headed. We really wanted to make our next music our own way, and it was a lot of fun to have all of us in a room together again. When we’d have downtime over the past two years, we’d all fly into either Seattle or Richmond and work in a specific studio in each place. We worked with engineers from our past. All these things went into being able to reimagine how we wanted to approach making music.” Aperture is the follow-up to 2022’s Every Shade of Blue, which spawned hits from its title song and “Virginia (Wind in the Night).” Fans can presave/preorder the new album Aperture and explore exclusive products, including signed copies HERE.

BROOKS NIELSEN (of The Growlers)

BROOKS NIELSEN (of The Growlers) at Fremont

Brooks Nielsen, celebrated frontman of The Growlers and now a critically acclaimed solo artist, has firmly established himself as one of the most distinctive voices in independent music. As the frontman and creative force behind The Growlers, Nielsen helped define and popularize the Beach Goth movement—a genre-blurring, countercultural wave that left an indelible mark on modern rock. Over more than a decade, The Growlers built a fiercely dedicated international following, performed at major festivals, and sold out venues around the world. Their celebrated discography and electrifying live shows cemented them as one of the most influential underground bands of the 21st century. In addition to their music, The Growlers also founded and curated the Beach Goth Festival, a groundbreaking event that brought together a wildly eclectic mix of artists—from Patti Smith and Bon Iver to Doja Cat and Mac DeMarco—making it a defining moment in the cultural landscape of the 2010s. Now, as a solo artist, Nielsen continues to push boundaries with the same fearless spirit. Since launching his solo career in 2022, he's released four records—three of them in 2024 alone. His latest, A Ride I'm Waiting For, features the haunting duet "Without Eyes" with Sierra Ferrell and has been praised for its cinematic scope and emotional depth. On stage, Nielsen delivers an experience unlike anything else. Backed by a powerhouse band—Growlers drummer Richard Gowen, keyboardist Cole Riddle, and guitarists J.D. Carrera and Elyadeen Anbar—Brooks crafts a set each night that's entirely its own. Drawing from his extensive solo catalog, deep cuts, Growlers classics, and unreleased material, his shows are long, loose, and alive. With no opening acts and performances stretching two and sometimes three hours, fans are invited into a world that feels as spontaneous as it does deeply curated. This Fall 2025 run is Brooks's most ambitious solo tour to date, featuring first-ever solo plays in small towns, Aspen and Fort Collins, CO; Carrboro and Asheville, NC; Madison, WI; Ferndale, MI; New Haven, CT; St. Louis, MO; Boise, ID; Tulsa, OK; and Nashville, TN. There's also a rare and intimate upstate New York show at the newly revived Bearsville Theatre in Woodstock—a venue rich with music history. In New York City, Nielsen will headline the legendary Webster Hall for the first time, marking hisbiggest solo show in the city yet—and in Chicago, he'll play the iconic Metro, a rite of passage for generations of boundary-pushing artists. The 28-date tour wraps with the now-iconic Helloween shows at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles on October 30 and 31—two surreal, sweat-soaked nights that have instantly become a rite of passage for Nielsen's most devoted fans. Every year, Beach Rats from across the country—and around the world—make the journey for this once-a-year celebration of the strange and the sacred. It's more than just a show: it's a Mecca for the hardcore fanbase, a chance to mix with fellow travelers, share stories from the past, and revel in a night of music, mystery, and magic. If you know, you go.
